Albergotti Creek Bridge remains in top 10 of bad bridges

A section of U.S. 17 that spans a northern Beaufort County creek is once again on AAA Carolinas' list of the state's worst bridges.

The Albergotti Creek Bridge, built on Trask Parkway in 1948, is No. 10 this year. It has been on the list for at least eight years. For several years, AAA Carolinas has deemed the bridge "structurally deficient" and "functionally obsolete."

It is scheduled to be replaced with a wider, longer span as part of a $5 million S.C. Department of Transportation project, officials have said.
