Cobia fishing a spring rite in Beaufort County

Nothing against hunting or fishing, but Untamed Lowcountry is not ostensibly about either pursuit. It's more about the nature and wildlife that makes the Lowcountry unique and an appreciation for them.

That said, that aim doesn't preclude an occasional piece about outdoor sports, and when the cobia fishermen start piling up in the Broad River this time of year, it gets me thinking about a story I did more than a decade ago on this spring rite. I thought I'd post a link to here, for old time's sake.
