Candice Glover prepares to sing the nation's song on PBS Sunday night

St. Helena Island native and American Idol winner Candice Glover rehearsed Saturday afternoon for Sunday's National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Glover will open the concert by singing the national anthem.

The concert will air live at 8 p.m. on WJWJ, the local PBS station.

It will be hosted for the eighth year by actors Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise. Others participaants include retired general and former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell; two-time Golden Globe-winning actor Ed Harris; "Dancing with the Stars" finalist and classical cross-over artist Katherine Jenkins; singer-songwriter and "The Voice" finalist Chris Mann; and Tony Award-winning tenor Alfie Boe. Conductor Jack Everly will lead the National Symphony Orchestra.
