Lest we forget: A list of Lowcountry Memorial Day events

Here are some of the Memorial Day events planned in Beaufort County this weekend:


  • The Women's Relief Corps and Sons and Daughters of War Veterans plan a 3 p.m. service today at Central Baptist Church at 1111 Prince St. A gathering in Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park will follow, during which flowers will be thrown into the water in memory of those who perished at sea.

  • *The annual parade will be at 10 a.m. Monday and start at the corner of Rodgers and Boundary streets. Parade lineup begins at 9 a.m. A ceremony will follow at noon Monday in Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St.


  • The Hilton Head Choral Society will present an "America Sings" concert at 7 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Parkway. Tickets: $20. www.hiltonheadchoralsociety.org

  • *The Hilton Head Council of the Navy League and the Military Veterans Coalition will sponsor the annual Memorial Day Observance at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the veterans memorial in Shelter Cove Community Park.


  • The Sun City Hilton Head Veterans Association will host its annual observance at 10 a.m. Monday in the Pinckney Hall parking lot of the gated community.
