LINCOLN, Neb. -- After climbing into the top 10 heading into the final round of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships, the University of South Carolina Beaufort slipped back on Friday at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club, finishing 15th.

The Sand Sharks entered the final round in a tie for ninth place but posted a team score of 327 to finish near the back of the pack.

Senior Kelli Nakano finished up her Sand Shark career in fine form, leading the team with a 4-over-par 76, her best round of the week. Nakano (Cave Creek, Ariz.) finished with a 311 total and tied for 16th overall -- the best finish ever by a USCB woman at nationals. It was Nakano's fourth appearance in the NAIA championships.

Sophomore Victoria DeGroodt (Walden, N.Y.) capped a solid week with a round of 83 to finish tied for 29th, and sophomore Samantha O'Donnell (Hilton Head Island) also shot 83 to end up tied for 68th.

Senior Katilin O'Sullivan (Hilton Head Island) finished her three-year career at USCB with an 85 and tied for 73rd, and junior Kendra Collins (Bluffton) carded an 86 to finish in 77th.

USCB's 15th-place showing matched last year's finish. The Sand Sharks also finished seventh in 2010 and 18th in 2011.

Oklahoma City ran away with the team title, shooting 1224 to beat British Columbia by 12 shots with individual champion Jessica Schiele leading the way at 295, five shots ahead of teammate Elia Folch.

Bluffton High School grad Heather Wiquist, who led the tournament after an opening-round 70, finished in a tie for 47th. Her Embry-Riddle squad finished third.
