A big thank you for making the Lowcountry what it is

In our world it appears more common to dwell on the negative and overlook the positive.

I had off-island friends visit me this past weekend. One of them I have know for half a century. It certainly is fun to be a tour guide on our island. I have been fortunate enough, along with two of my siblings to wear cloth diapers on North Forest Beach, then in adult years to have a career on this island, nearly twice the geographical size of Manhattan.

A great big thank you to the visionaries and their families for creating this bottom corner of our state. Developers, architects, Realtors and all the players who make this home.

A special thank you to the originators of the Town of Hilton Head Island. A giant thank you to all who keep our island moving forward with traditions of the past.

It really makes no difference when you arrived, what corner you arrived from, as long as you have arrived. Enjoy our world: The Heritage (what an appropriate name), the festivals, and of course, the smell of salt air. Do not be selfish, share your world with an off island friend.

Bo, if it gets any better than this, I am not sure I have properly prepared to get there. Well, not yet anyway.
