Hilton Head Hospital to offer pregnancy classes for expectant mothers, families

Hilton Head Hospital is offering classes for expectant mothers and their families to prepare for pregnancy, labor and delivery and becoming the parent of a newborn.

  • Prepared Childbirth Education -- This course discusses the physical changes you can expect during pregnancy, labor, delivery and after the birth of your child. It is recommended for first-time parents. The three-week classes are June 6, 13, 20; July 11, 18, 25; Aug. 1, 8, 15. Cost is $75.

  • Prenatal Breast-feeding Class -- Certified lactation consultants teach this class for expectant first-time parents and experienced parents who wish to review the basics of breast feeding. The class will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. the last Monday of each month from June through August. This class is free.

  • Breast-feeding Support Group -- Certified lactation consultants facilitate the group. The group meets from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays.
