Great music among Beaufort's blessings

info@islandpacket.comMay 23, 2013

Beaufort is an amazing place to live. We are friendly, have great places to eat, godly churches, wonderful views and people like there are nowhere else.

One thing often not thought of is the musical talent we are blessed to have here.

It is certainly our honor to acknowledge that Candice Glover is from this area. Last weekend, the Lowcountry Chorale performed two concerts of Broadway music that had to make you smile, and the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra and the Beaufort Youth Orchestra performed on the same stage -- more than 100 musicians young and old. There are no words to describe it.

Recently we have had concerts by the Harbor Masters and the Beaufort Belles. The Sea Island Chamber Singers were tremendous earlier this year.

Fred Devyatkin, conductor of the orchestra, said you have to hear live music to truly enjoy it. How true this is. If you have not heard one or all of the talented people, make it a point to do so when they next perform. They are all nonprofit groups and simply want to entertain you and brighten your life.
