A local mothers' Facebook group is working to help Oklahoma tornado victims.

The group plans a charity yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 8 at Lil' Sprouts Christian Childcare Center at 11 Mallett Way in Sheridan Commons in Bluffton. The center is behind Jim N' Nicks Barbecue. Proceeds will benefit American Red Cross tornado relief efforts.

"I was glued to my TV with tears coming down my face," said Kelly Housaman, a member of the group and event organizer. "... I felt I needed to do something."

To donate items for sale, drop them off at the child care center by June 6, Housaman said.

Those interested in selling items are asked to contribute $15 per space and to donate half of their proceeds to the Red Cross. Tables and chairs will not be provided.

Hot dogs, hamburgers and other refreshments will be sold.

Donated items that do not sell will be given to local charities, such as Bluffton Self Help or the Salvation Army, Housaman said.
