Teens arrested for damaging mailboxes

Three teenage boys allegedly blew up mailboxes in the town of Port Royal and in Beaufort County this weekend, according to the Port Royal Police Department.

Police responded to the report of an explosion outside of a vacant residence on Cedar Creek Circle just after midnight Saturday, according to the incident report. A neighbor said the explosion woke his wife and children. Pieces of the mailbox were scattered in his yard and on the road.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office detained three teenage suspects.

A 16-year-old boy admitted to blowing up one mailbox, according to the Sheriff's Office. The other two boys said they damaged other mailboxes. Fireworks were found in the teenagers' possession.
