GILBERT -- There's always been a little bit of sibling rivalry between Ashley and Amanda Green.

A year ago, the twins on the Hilton Head Island High School girls soccer team kept a running tally of their goal totals as the Seahawks captured their second consecutive state title. No winner was declared, though, as both finished with 19.

"But she had more assists than me," Amanda said.

Call it a draw this time, too. The sisters both cracked the scoring column for Hilton Head High on Friday evening as the Seahawks won their third straight Class 3-A state title with a 3-2 win over Eastside.

"I personally like playing with Amanda a lot because we feed off of each other," Ashley said. "I feel like I know what she's going to do and she knows what I'm going to do. It just makes it a lot easier, working with her."

It was Amanda who got the Seahawks on the board first, as she took a through ball in the 11th minute from Bridgette Noonan -- who flew into Columbia earlier in the afternoon following a science fair in Australia -- before banking one into the right corner for a 1-0 lead. Ashley then followed in the 54th after sliding one past Eastside keeper Maylyn Parsons off a deflection.

"They're competitive in that respect. But when they come on the field, they lift each other up," Seahawks coach Ernie Suozzi said. "They're very unselfish, and sometimes to a fault."

And while Amanda lost the assist battle in 2012, she got the better of her sister against Eastside, as she found Logan Danzell across the box in the 61st, who followed by banging one off the right post for a 3-0 lead.

That assist would come in handy, as Eastside rallied for a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes, snapping Hilton Head High's streak of six consecutive shutouts. Freshman forward Natalie Royaards started the comeback with a goal in the 70th minute, and Asheton Robinson followed with a blast from 35 yards out in the 74th.

But it wasn't enough for Eastside (23-3-1), which lost to the Seahawks in the title match for the second straight season. Hilton Head High (23-3) downed the Eagles, 1-0, for the 2012 championship.

"You ache for the girls," Eastside coach Andy Robinson said. "They poured it on there, but we just ran out of time. Not to take anything away from Hilton Head. They are a phenomenal team."

Phenomenal is one way to put it. Friday's win marked the 15th consecutive postseason win for Hilton Head High, a streak Suozzi hopes to continue in 2014 despite the departure of 12 seniors, including eight starters.

"It's just an awesome experience for them," he said. "It's a feat that, I don't know if any team has ever done that. It's pretty remarkable. I don't care what level you play at."

The Green sisters will be back for their senior seasons as Hilton Head High goes for No. 4. And maybe they will renew their friendly scoring competition.

"It's pretty cool, because we've known (the seniors) since we were like 10," Ashley said. "It's cool to see them grow up. But it's cool to take the leadership role, as well."
