Thomas Heyward falls to Holly Hill in SCISAA baseball championship

sports@islandpacket.comMay 17, 2013

Led by Brandon Oglesby and Middleton Bull, Holly Hill Academy knocked off Thomas Heyward Academy, 8-3, on Thursday night in Game 3 of the SCISAA Class 2-A baseball championship series at St. Matthews.

The Raiders broke open the final game -- which was held at neutral site Calhoun Academy -- with a four-run sixth inning.

It was Holly Hill's second straight state crown.

Seth Jones and Ryan Day scored in the first inning for Thomas Heyward. Day's sacrifice fly in the seventh inning scored J.D. Tuten with the game's final run.

Oglesby went the distance on the mound for Holly Hill, just as he did in the Raiders' 4-3 win in Monday's series opener.

Bull had a two-run single in the Raiders' four-run fourth inning, and then provided the biggest blast of the game in the sixth, a three-run home run.

Seth Swank had a two-run double and Oglesby had an RBI single for Holly Hill.
