Manhunt launched after Bluffton home break-in

A home on Haigler Boulevard in Bluffton was burglarized just before noon Thursday, leading to a brief search for a suspect the homeowner saw leaving the scene.

Although the manhunt was unsuccessful, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has identified a "person of interest," Sgt. Ramona Kuhn said.

No one was at home during the burglary, but the homeowner went to check on the residence after its security alarm went off. He told deputies, who arrived soon after, that he saw a man leaving the home and described him as a tall, thin black male.

All of the property stolen in the burglary has been recovered, Kuhn said, though she would not say how or where.

Anyone with information about the case can call Cpl. D. Seifert at 843-255-3414.
