  • Brian Dixon, a seventh-grade math teacher at Hilton Head Island Middle School, is requesting an iPad for the classroom.

  • Karen Wilson, a special education teacher at Hilton Head Island High School, is requesting large bottles of hand sanitizers and boxes of tissue.

  • Amanda O'Nan, principal of Hilton Head Island High School, is requesting Clorox wipes, No. 2 pencils, graph paper, colored index cards, indoor house plants and tissues.

  • The kindergarten and first-grade performance of "Bugz" will be at 6:30 p.m. May 23 at the Early Childhood Center multipurpose room.

  • Mustangs of the Month for April were: Victor Dumaslan, Emma Holliday, Jacob Werner, Olga Campbell, Tina Tran, Kevin Sales, Angel Roblero, Jorge Chirino, Caroline Hawkes, Katherine Padilla and Danya Sanchez.

  • Band members attended the S.C. & Ensemble Festival May 4. Receiving superior ratings were soloists Kaelah Castillo, Dylan Reynallt, Matina James, Sarah Cao, Joey Zhousolo, Tina Tran, Colin Sandman and the duet of Dylan Beiler and Will Shropshire. Receiving excellent ratings were soloists Adam Babington, Beth Gabbey and McKenzie Bitz.

  • HELPING HANDS

  • The school raised $6,331.47 for the Make-A-Wish foundation to help Leo Vannoni with his dream of visiting Disney World. Ms. Braun, seventh-grade science teacher, will donate her hair to "Locks of Love" due to the overwhelming response to this fundraiser. Ms. Lozan's homeroom raised the most amount of money. They will enjoy a Zaxby's lunch after PASS testing.

  • The Night for the Arts is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a student art gallery, silent auction, performances and refreshments. Cost is a nonperishable food donation to support local food banks.

  • Luke Higgs has been named to this year's All Region Team for baseball

  • Senior Carly Munn received the Zonta Scholarship for the 2012-13 school year.

  • The following upper school students will be recognized with the Mayor's Youth Volunteer Service Award for recording more than 50 hours of community service during the past year: Kate Bennett, Sarah Bundy, Logan Cherry, Claire Corkern, Alexis Evanofski, Christianna Foster, Daria Fulton, David Graupner, Maggie Lucci, Ashleigh McDaniel, Meccay Nimmer, Kaley VanEenenaam and Walker Wood.

  • The boys track team won runner-up at the 2013 SCISA State Track and Field Championship.
