South Carolina pulls out 4-3 win over Presbyterian

COLUMBIA -- Consecutive sacrifice flies by Graham Saiko and Chase Vergason in South Carolina's seventh inning helped the Gamecocks claim a 4-3 win over Presbyterian in non-conference action at Carolina Stadium.

Patrick Sullivan (2-0) tossed 1 2-3 innings of relief to earn the win.

Tyler Webb notched his 15th save of the season in the 102nd appearance of his career, which ties a school record set by Matt Price.

Webb pitched one scoreless inning and struck out two.

South Carolina starter Forrest Koumas pitched three innings, allowing one run on four hits and struck out one batter.

Tim Corbin (2-4) took the loss for Presbyterian.

The Gamecocks (38-14) belted out nine hits, including two from both Dante Rosenberg and Max Schrock. Vergason had the Gamecocks' only extra base hit, a pair of RBIs and a scored a run. Saiko contributed a hit, drove in a run, and scored a run.

Brandon Paul and Nathan Chong had two hits each for the Blue Hose (24-29).

South Carolina is on the road for a three-game SEC series with Mississippi State starting Thursday.
