Two men are accused of assaulting two others near a convenience store on Hilton Head Island's Gumtree Road Saturday night using a handgun and a pressure washer wand, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The altercation allegedly began at about 10:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh. Donald Cooper, 31, was arrested Tuesday on charges of pointing a handgun during the argument and striking one the victims with the butt of the weapon, she said.

His alleged accomplice, 32-year-old Roque Moreno, was arrested Monday for assault and battery and other charges after the other victim said Moreno struck him with a pressure washer wand, she said.

Cooper, who faces charges of pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, assault and battery and a municipal court bench warrant, has been released from the Beaufort County Detention Center after posting $50,140.38 bond, according to the jail log.

Moreno remains in the detention center in lieu of $51,147.50 bond for charges of fleeing to evade, resisting arrest, assault and battery and a magistrate court bench warrant. He is also being held for questioning on his immigration status by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the jail log.
