The Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island is accepting nominations for the 2013 Hilton Head Island Hall of Fame.

Nomination forms are available at locations across the community, on the Hilton Head Island Hall of Fame website at hiltonheadhalloffame.com, or by email at hhrotary@sc.twcbc.com. Deadline for nominations is June 4. Selection will be made by an anonymous group of Hilton Head residents, not Rotarians, according to a news release.

The Hall of Fame was initiated last year to recognize and honor island residents, past and present, who have made extraordinary contributions to the community. Judging criteria include significance of accomplishments, dedication, leadership and pioneering nature, and local awards and honors.

A public celebration will be at 4 p.m. June 2 at Honey Horn to unveil the bronze plaques for the hall's first four inductees: Charles Fraser, Frederick Hack Sr., Charlotte Heinrichs and Charles Simmons Sr.

The Island Packet is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news.
