Man accused of sexual conduct with minor in Burton

A man renting a room in Burton was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor after he allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl, according to a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Jose Luis Tinoco-Pedro, 23, was arrested Monday after the girl's mother filed a report May 1. The mother discovered the relationship after finding Tinoco-Pedro's cellphone in her daughter's room, according to the report.

Tinoco-Pedro is being held for prosecution at the Beaufort County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bond.
