Vigilance price we pay for more violent attacks

info@islandpacket.comMay 6, 2013

I am very saddened by the loss of innocent human beings in Boston.

Yes, the enemy is at our gate. Two young people to whom we extended our hand in friendship and gave an opportunity to enrich their lives have been accused of committing a heinous crime. Most of us Americans are unable to understand how such an act could have been committed. Only blind hate can be the answer.

After shock and debate, we return to our normal lives. <2009>My personal thoughts are of vigilance. It is difficult not to be dismayed. Yes, there are enemies at the gate. We are an open and gracious society, but traveling in Europe, I see more security measures. It certainly behooves us to be more attentive to our surroundings.
