The Bluffton High School JRTOC unit spoiled Battery Creek High School's bid for a third consecutive victory in a districtwide competition.

Bluffton High's unit, supported by the U.S. Army, finished last in the competition just a year ago.

The event Friday at Beaufort High School included academic tests; sit-up, chin-up, pushup and running contests; color guard; and platoon drills.

Bluffton High earned the most points and the silver Superintendent's Cup.

Battery Creek High's JROTC unit (Marines) was first runner-up. Finishing in a three-way tie for third were Beaufort High (Air Force), Hilton Head Island High (Navy) and Whale Branch Early College High (Marines).
