Mayor's endorsement shows need for change

info@islandpacket.comMay 2, 2013

I have in my hand a list of people who voted in the recent Republican Party primary and subsequent runoff in the 1st District congressional race.

I wonder if Beaufort Mayor Billy Keyserling would care to explain why he voted in both those Republican elections, only to endorse the Democrat for the May 7 special election.

I think it gives credence to a long-standing belief that Democrats vote in Republican primaries in an effort to select the candidate they think would be easiest to beat in the general election.

We really need to pass a bill that allows us to register to vote by party so we can stop the subterfuge.
