Workers cover sinkhole in Beaufort waterfront park

Workers with the City of Beaufort Public Works Department lay plywood over a hole next to the pavilion at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park on Tuesday afternoon in Beaufort. The hole is the result of an old storm drain that began to collapse a few weeks ago, and the plywood is to cover the hole temporarily since it cannot be properly filled before the events scheduled at the park this weekend.

Workers with the Beaufort Public Works Department place plywood Tuesday over a hole next to the pavilion at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park as a temporary fix. The hole appeared after an old storm drain began to collapse a few weeks ago. The city plans to have a permanent fix for the hole before this weekend's Taste of Beaufort, which will be in the park.
