Dispose of medicine, chemicals Saturday

Residents can dispose of unwanted cleaning products, harmful chemicals, and expired or leftover medications Saturday.

The disposal event will be at the county Public Works North facility at 140 Shanklin Road in Beaufort. It runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The disposal is sponsored by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Investigations Section, the county's Solid Waste and Recycling Division and other local agencies.

Items accepted include cleaning materials, batteries, paints, antifreeze, oil, gas, insecticides, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, propane tanks, medicines and any other products that have labels with the words "warning," "danger" or "caution."
