Bruce Doneff with Friends of Hunting Island holds out his hands for a bag of oyster shells Friday afternoon as volunteers worked to construct an oyster reef at White Hall Landing on Lady's Island.

The reef is one of twenty that are planned around the ACE Basin in the next six months, said Doneff.

Members from Friends of Hunting Island, Beaufort Conservation District, DNR and SCORE are participating in the project along with local volunteers.
