The seventh annual Daufuskie Island Adult Tennis Championship for amateurs will get underway at 11:30 a.m. Friday and run through Sunday afternoon at the Haig Point Tennis Club. The event is sanctioned by the U.S. Tennis Association.

Among the more than 70 entrants from the Southeast region are past singles champions Rich Silver, a Haig Point member, and Pat Child of Hilton Head Island, who will be entered only in mixed doubles this weekend. Prizes will be awarded for finalists in each divisional category.

“Players will be paired with other players of similar ability,” saidd Haig Point director of tennis Ron Gwyn. “We have six courts and top-notch amenities, so we will certainly offer a quality experience in every way.”
