Beaufort man allegedly choked, beat dog after girlfriend said she was leaving

A 26-year-old Beaufort man is accused of choking and beating his girlfriend's dog after an argument Tuesday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

After the man's girlfriend told him she was leaving him and taking her dog, the man went outside and began choking and hitting the dog, according to the report. The man fled after the woman told him she was calling 911.

The dog suffered cuts, but none appeared life-threatening, according to the report.
