Pregnancy Center and Clinic of the Low Country thanks Hargray's Caring Coins Foundation

letters@islandpacket.comApril 24, 2013

Pregnancy Center and Clinic of the Low Country wishes to express appreciation to Hargray's Caring Coins Foundation for a recent grant in the amount of $5,000 to be used for the prenatal care program.

Prenatal care through the 16th week of gestation is offered to clients free of charge, ensuring both mother and baby have a healthy start. It is essential that women receive early, adequate prenatal care and full-term care through the 40 weeks of gestation to prevent a host of potential complications, including premature births (a leading cause of cerebral palsy), birth defects, low birth weight, morbidity, mortality. Clients are transitioned to other clinics and obstetricians after the first 16 weeks of care at the clinic. Prenatal vitamins are dispensed as part of the care to produce healthy outcomes. The clinic's services help reduce expenses for the insurance industry and taxpayers. Healthy pregnancies translate into healthy babies -- a win-win for all.

Our thanks for the community's support of our endeavors.
