Thumbs Up thanks women of Harbor Island for support

info@islandpacket.comApril 24, 2013

The Thumbs Up children and their families and the Thumbs Up volunteers, staff and board of trustees wish to thank all the great-hearted, generous women of Harbor Island who added something special to their monthly social evenings this year by placing a "suggestion box" at each meeting specifically to collect members' voluntary contributions for our organization.

Their community spirit makes a tangible, daily difference to the work we're able to do. Congratulations to this wonderful group and to their organizer, Cathy Alexander.

Thumbs Up, a nonprofit, year-round program offering academic, nutritional and mentoring support to young Beaufort children, is a United Way agency and depends heavily on other contributions and fundraisers to fulfill its mission.

We teach our children that community service is everyone's job, including theirs, and it's especially gratifying to be able to show them how others help them. We are grateful to the Harbor Island community for its warmth, generosity and friendship.
