The University of South Carolina Beaufort will conduct its 2013 Student Research and Scholarship Day on Monday at the Hilton Head Gateway Campus in Bluffton.

The daylong, annual event is intended to showcase students' research and scholarship activities.

The event is free and open to the public.

"It's an opportunity for the public to learn, share and develop new ideas in a friendly, collegial atmosphere," a USCB news release reads.

Thirty-two students were selected to participate. The literary and cultural criticism oral presentations will be in Hargray Room 156 beginning at 8:30 a.m. At 1:30 p.m., the university will present outstanding essays from English 101 on campus life. The Interdisciplinary Research and Scholarship Public Poster Session will open at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Hargray Building.
