The congressional campaigns for Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch and Republican Mark Sanford canceled public events and did not send out media releases Tuesday out of respect for the Boston Marathon tragedy that claimed the lives of at least three people.

The campaigns anticipated returning to their normal schedules Wednesday. The two candidates face off in a May 7 special election to represent the 1st Congressional District.
