To Palmetto Bluff:

We are most fortunate to have a wonderful neighbor like Palmetto Bluff, which donated the proceeds of its inaugural half-marathon to BackPack Buddies for Bluffton.

BackPack Buddies sends food home every Friday with children who might otherwise go hungry all weekend; 162 children in three Bluffton Elementary schools are being served and another 100 children in two other schools are being fed through The School Pantry portion of BackPack Buddies. The $9,460 raised through the half-marathon will provide 2,374 bags of food feeding hungry children for 14 weeks.

On behalf of the BackPack Buddies for Bluffton Leadership Team and the children who benefit from the program, we sincerely thank Palmetto Bluff, especially Courtney Hampson and Ellen Shumaker, and Rob from Palmetto Running Company for creating such a wonderful race. We also want to thank all of our terrific sponsors: New River Auto Mall, Allagash Brewing Company, Butler Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, CeraSport, Thomas Construction, Custom Audio Video, Jim 'n Nick's Bar-B-Q, J.T. Turner Construction Co., Shoreline Construction and Development and Victory Brewing Co.

And heartfelt thanks to the 473 runners, who joined us on the beautiful race course, running through wooded areas, past fields, over water and through the charming village of Palmetto Bluff, and to our 100 volunteers, who worked hard to make the race such a success.

BackPack Buddies is a grass-roots community organization that couldn't exist without generous donors, such as Palmetto Bluff. We are most appreciative of their support.
