Plaid will be everywhere today at Harbour Town Golf Links when the bagpipes play, the cannon fires and defending champion Carl Pettersson strikes the ceremonial tee shot to celebrate the opening of the RBC Heritage presented by Boeing.

The 45th playing of South Carolina's only PGA Tour event will open under partly sunny skies with a projected high of 76 and a chance of showers. Temperatures should be pleasant, with highs in the 70s, throughout the week.

In addition to tournament play, which opens Thursday, there is a full slate of other activities:

  • The opening ceremonies take place at noon today in the Harbour Town area and near the 18th green of Harbour Town Golf Links.

  • Today's Pro-am Presented by Boeing tees off at 11:30 a.m. on the first and 10th tees.

  • On Tuesday, the Coca-Cola Youth Day Putting Contest will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. at the putting green at Harbour Town Golf Links.

  • The RBC Heritage Pro-Am tees off at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday on the first and 10th tees.

  • The Tartan Day Contests will be held on the new Heritage Lawn from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. After play on Saturday, there will be a free concert on the Heritage Lawn featuring The Headliners.

  • On Sunday, there will be a church service at 7:30 a.m. on the 18th green. Closing ceremonies will follow the end of play on the 18th green, as well.
