Florida routs USC 14-5 as Gators sweep Gamecocks

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Tied at 4-4 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Florida batted around to score 10 runs on eight hits on the way to a 14-5 victory over eighth-ranked South Carolina (27-10, 8-7 SEC) to sweep a three-game SEC series at McKethan Stadium.

Max Schrock went 2 for 5 with a homer and three RBI to lead the Gamecocks. Chase Vergason and Grayson Greiner had two hits apiece as well.

The Gators (19-18, 8-7) finished with 17 hits.

Florida's Daniel Gibson earned the win in relief.

South Carolina freshman left-hander Jack Wynkoop suffered the loss and is now 4-2 for the season. He allowed two runs on three hits in three innings of work.

The Gamecocks return to action Tuesday, hosting College of Charleston. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
