Hilton Head Island High scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, including three on a bases-loaded double by Aaron Facenda, on the way to an 11-1 win over Bethlehem (Ga.) Christian.

Brandon Johnson and Andrew Dill each went 2 for 2 for the Seahawks.

Winning pitcher Ryan Cherry went the distance. He allowed four hits and struck out four.

The Seahawks improved to 12-4 while Bethlehem (Ga.) Christian fell to 7-5.

Hilton Head Island High returns to region play Monday at Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

GIRLS SOCCER

Hilton Head Island 2, North Gwinnett (Ga.) 1: Claudia Murphy broke a 1-1 tie to lift the Seahawks at home.

Emily Crick put Hilton Head Island High up 1-0 before the visitors tied it before the half.

Samantha Womack played goalkeeper for the Seahawks (13-2).

Hilton Head High next travels Tuesday to James Island.

BOYS SOCCER

Hilton Head Island High 2, North Gwinnett 1: Goals from Koben Barrientos and Chip Tremarelli lifted the Seahawks.

Brian Ludewig played goal for Hilton Head Island High (11-4).

North Gwinnett fell to 8-4-1.

The Seahawks next host James Island on Tuesday.

Airport tournament: Battery Creek dropped its final two games, losing 2-1 to Dutch Fork and 4-0 to Hammond.

Manny Gonzalez had the Dolphins' goal against Dutch Fork.

Battery Creek goalkeepers combined to make seven saves in the loss to Hammond.

Now 7-9 overall, the Dolphins next visit Whale Branch on Tuesday.

TRACK AND FIELD

Taco Bell Classic: The Beaufort High boys earned a top-10 finish among boys teams at the Taco Bell Classic at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.

Beaufort High's Desmond Howard finished fourth in the 400 meters and seventh in the 200, while Michael Dixon finished fifth in the 110 hurdles.

Beaufort High's 4x400 relay team finished second and its 4x100 team was seventh. Running the 4x400 were Darrien Chapman, Tony Winston, Nate Parker and Howard.

The Beaufort High girls turned in a top-20 finish.

Kaila Smith won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.59 and was fourth in the 200 meters.

The Eagles' 4x400 team (Aaliyah Smalls, Monique Jones, K. Smith, Kendra Williams) was seventh and Amanda Barnes has a top 10 finish in the pole vault.

Battery Creek's top two finishers were Shakil Gause in the boys shot put (sixth, 50-6 1/2) and Quamecha Morrison in the girls high jump (eighth, 5-0).

WRESTLING

Low Country Wrestling Club: Alex Nelson, Cooper Kaminsky, Charlie Castro, Liam Payne of the Battery Creek Lowcountry wrestling club won their respective weight classes Saturday at the USA Wrestling freestyle tournament at Aynor High School.

Adler Snyder and Zack McPeek were runners-up, and Cameron Wood and Chase Kaminsky took third place.

The Battery Creek High School Low Country Wrestling Club, which is coached by local District Wrestling Coaches, Nate Day, Jim Shuman and volunteer parent, Chris Kaminsky, participates in USA Wrestling tournaments across South Carolina from March to May. The team travels to Liberty High School next week.
