Rip current, severe weather risk in effect Thursday

There's a moderate risk for rip currents in Beaufort County today, according to the National Weather Service.

The risk is in effect through this evening and also affects coastal Colleton, Charleston and coastal Jasper County.

There's also a slight risk of severe thunderstorms tonight. A line of thunderstorms is expected to pass through the area after 8 p.m. The main threat is damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service.
