Fan Appreciation Day at Crossings Park

The playoffs have begun for the Hilton Head Rugby Club, and the island team will be hosting a match against Brevard (Fla.) on Saturday at Crossings Park, with the winner advancing to the USA Rugby South championship tournament later this month in Naples, Fla.

Hilton Head went through the regular season undefeated, finishing 6-0.

The matchup with Brevard could be a heated one, according to Hilton Head's Scott Wild. The teams last met in the playoffs three years ago, with Brevard originally winning the match. However, Hilton Head appealed the outcome and sent video footage to officials, who ruled that the scoring was incorrect and gave the win to the island squad.

For the final home match of the season, the Hilton Head Rugby Club will be holding Fan Appreciation Day before the game. The festivites begin at 3:30 p.m. with barbecue, refreshments and a bounce house for the kids. There is no cost for admission.

The playoff match with Brevard will start at 5 p.m.
