AMIkids Beaufort plans a croquet tournament and silent auction from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11 to raise money for its residential facility in Dale, which needs new laundry facilities and a welding room.

The facility provides education, treatment and behavior modification for male teens convicted of nonviolent offenses. Students work toward their high school equivalency diplomas.

The tournament will be at Brays Island off U.S. 17 in Sheldon. A captain's party for participants will be May 10 at the Marshlands home of Brantley Harvey Jr. in Beaufort's National Historic Landmark District.

Teams of four to eight people in period costumes are encouraged to enter, with prizes for the best-looking tent or picnic display.

A silent auction during the tournament will raise money for the program, formerly known as the Beaufort Marine Institute.
