Clemson baseball team overpowers Boston College, 9-2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Clemson baseball team scored four runs in the first inning on the way to routing Boston College, 9-2, on Saturday.

Freshman right-hander Clate Schmidt (3-1) earned the mound win, tying his career-high with seven strong innings.

Hilton Head Island's Patrick Andrews pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and no runs.

Eric Stevens (0-7) took the loss for the Eagles.

Clemson (20-11, 8-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) and Boston College (5-24, 0-13) will wrap up the three-game series at noon Sunday.
