A gun found beside the body of Darryl McArthur Greene on Sunday in Burton was reported stolen from a Fulton County (Ga.) Sheriff's Department employee, according to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The .40 caliber Glock Model 22 was reported missing March 15 to the Clayton County Police Department.

Both Fulton and Clayton counties are in the Atlanta area. No further details were available about the gun theft.

Greene, 40, was shot several times at about 5:30 p.m. on Easter in a public area on the side of Staffwood Road. He was with a group, but interviews by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office have turned up little information.

Anyone with information about the crime should call Staff Sgt. Fraser at 843-255-3416 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-247-6372.
