BOYS TENNIS

Hilton Head Prep 6, Hilton Head Christian Academy 3: Hilton Head Prep won four third-set tiebreakers in singles to eke out a win over their island rival in a matchup of two of the best tennis teams in the state.

Hilton Head Christian (4-3 overall, 1-2 region) hosts St. Andrew's on Thursday at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis. The Eagles get a rematch with Hilton Head Prep on April 25.

BOYS SOCCER

Hilton Head Prep 4, Hilton Head Christian Academy 3 (SO): Hilton Head Prep's first three players in the penalty-kick shootout scored, and goalkeeper Zenon Parker made two saves in the shootout to lift the Dolphins over the Eagles.

Teron Daley, Ryan Henderson and Logan Clark scored goals in regulation for Hilton Head Prep. Daley added two assists, and Henderson had one.

Lucas McMillan, Will Peterkin and Andrew Spencer scored in the shootout.

Hilton Head Prep (6-5) plays at 6 p.m. Thursday, hosting Porter-Gaud.

Zach McCutchen scored two goals and Clay Oliver had the other for Hilton Head Christian (9-2). JR Moise and Nick Pirozzi each had an assist for the Eagles, who host Cathedral Academy at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Hilton Head Christian Academy 3, Hilton Head Prep 0: The Eagles kept their island rival in check, going ahead 2-0 in the first half and adding a late goal to put it away.

Allison Meeder scored on a free kick five minutes in for the Eagles (11-3 overall, 5-2 region). Alyssa Lane scored on a header off a corner kick by Stevie DeSimone later in the first half. Lexi Lainhart capped the scoring off a corner from Rebecca Meeder.

Andy Anderson led the defensive effort, marking Hilton Head Prep star Halie Parker, and goalkeeper Meaghan Gillis made three saves for the shutout.

The Eagles host Ashley Hall at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Beaufort High 4, Porter-Gaud 1: Kayla King made eight saves in goal, and the Eagles got goals from Tori Owens, Elise Dean, Caitlin Miller and Alex Zapp in their matchup with a SCISAA squad.

Beaufort High (4-3-1) hosts Chattahoochee, Ga., at 6 p.m. Thursday.

BASEBALL

Battery Creek 10, Dixie 1: Every player in the starting lineup and off the bench had at least one hit, and the Dolphins cruised to a victory over Dixie in the BATRUP Tournament at Bluffton.

Battery Creek's Thomas Smith went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Michael Jennings also had three hits, and Zack Mahan had a triple among two hits and two RBIs for the Dolphins, who accumulated 17 hits as a team.

Mahan went the distance for the mound win. He allowed three hits and fanned five.

The Dolphins resume tournament play at 1 p.m. today against St. Joseph's.

Richmond County (N.C.) 1, Hilton Head High 0: Richmond County got on the board on a fourth-inning throwing error before riding left-hander Nic Bullard to the shutout victory on the second day of the Seahawk Invitational.

Bullard (4-0) limited the Seahawks (10-2) to just one hit in the complete game effort, and ended the game on a strikeout of Tommy Cooper with two men on base. His offense provided the only run it would need when Brandon Gibson scored on first baseman Mat Clark's throwing error to third.

Richmond County (13-1) has won 13 straight games.

Michael Perez had the only hit of the game for Hilton Head.

Jake Kizer (1-2) took the hard-luck loss for Hilton Head High, as the senior allowed just one hit, two walks, three hit batters and four strikeouts in the defeat.

The Seahawks return to action tonight at 7 p.m. against Walhalla.

Hilton Head Prep 5, Northwood Academy 4: Jake Martin went 2 for 3 at the plate and earned the save, getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh inning, for Hilton Head Prep.

Northwood Academy had three runners on with two down in the seventh, but Martin induced a popout on a 3-2 count to end it.

Tyler Fox got the win, giving up one earned run on four hits in 6 innings.

Cole Gardocki was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, Fox was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Marcus Hindal had a hit and a run for the Dolphins (11-2 overall, 4-0 region)

Prep hosts St. Andrew's at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Hilton Head Christian 17, St. Andrew's 0 (5 innings): JD Reichel went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, and Reese Dolyniuk had a double, a triple and an RBI to lead the way for Hilton Head Christian.

Luke Higgs went 2 for 3 with two runs. Alec Ambrosic, Logan Toomer, Ben Warner and Dolyniuk also scored twice.

Ryan Barrett got the win, giving up no hits in 2 innings.

Hilton Head Christian (6-6) plays again at 6 p.m. Friday at Porter-Gaud.

SOFTBALL

Beaufort High: The Eagles went 4-1 Tuesday in the Summerville Azalea Tournament, winning the Silver division and knocking off host Summerville in the process.

Megan Cieplowski had a two-run double in the seventh to help Beaufort High (19-6) defeat Summerville, 3-2, the Eagles' first win over the Green Wave in 10 years. Chelsea Welty had three hits, and Jenny Mullins was the winning pitcher.

Cieplowski also had a key hit in Beaufort's eight-inning win against Clover, a two-run single as the Eagles won 4-3.

Mari Cook and Michelle Brown combined for a no-hitter in an 18-0 win over Cross.

Welty hit a triple and Jessica Bennett had a double in a 7-5 win over Travelers Rest.

The Eagles' only loss on the day was a 2-0 defeat against Blythewood.

GOLF

Hilton Head Christian 306, Pinewood Prep 325, Porter-Gaud 341, Hilton Head Prep 342, First Baptist 372: In their final region match of the season, Hilton Head Christian ran away with a victory and wrapped up the region title at the Cassique Course on Kiawah Island.

The Eagles were led by Bryson Nimmer and RJ Bartolomucci, who both carded 75. JD Lehman and Matt Lehman each had 78.

Pinewood Prep's Katelyn Dambeaugh shot 74 to win medalist honors.

Hilton Head Christian will be participating in the 20-team Low Country Classic at the Plantation Course at Edisto, Friday through Sunday.

The SCISAA state tournament is April 21-22 at the Hackler Course in Conway.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Bishop England 19, Hilton Head Island High 2: The Seahawks' season ended with a first-round playoff loss in Charleston.
