Junior outfielder Blake Cilwick became the first USC Beaufort baseball player to pick up Sun Conference Player of the Week honors this season, earning the award Monday in voting by the league's sports information directors.

Cilwick went 8 for 22 with two doubles, a triple, six runs scored and seven RBIs in five games last week. He ran his hitting streak to 13 games in a doubleheader at Edward Waters on Tuesday. After having that streak snapped in the series opener against St. Thomas on Friday, Cilwick bounced back to go 6-for-10 with two doubles, five runs scored and five RBIs in Saturday's doubleheader.

Cilwick is batting .336 with nine doubles, three triples and one home run, and he leads the team in runs (25) and RBIs (34).

The Sand Sharks play a non-conference game at Savannah State at 3 p.m. Tuesday, then head to West Palm Beach, Fla., for a weekend series against Sun Conference rival Northwood.
