Take Back the Night to raise awareness of abuse, sexual violence

Take Back the Night, an event to increase awareness of child abuse and sexual violence, will be at 7 p.m. April 12 in the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in Beaufort.

The event is sponsored by Hope Haven of the Lowcountry, in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month. It will include stories from survivors, performers and speakers. Slam poets will perform, and luminarias will be lit honoring the 473 survivors Hope Haven served in 2012.

The event is free and open to the public.
