info@islandpacket.comMarch 29, 2013

School groups and nonprofit organizations can participate in the semiannual Belk Charity Sale from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. April 27.

The in-store shopping event raises money for local charities through the sale of discounted merchandise.

All proceeds from each $5 ticket sold will be retained by the local charity. There is no limit to the number of tickets charities can sell or to the amount of money they can raise, according to a news release. Belk will provide tickets and informational materials at no cost to each participating organization. Beginning April 19, tickets can also be purchased at Belk stores.

The 2012 Belk Charity Sale raised more than $10 million for thousands of charities throughout the South, the release said.
