Burton man charged with cruelty to children

A Burton man is accused of assaulting his daughters, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

William Isaiah Grant, 38, was charged with felony cruelty to children and is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center, with bond set at more than $1,090, according to the jail log.

Grant was charged after a March 22 incident on Big Road, according to the Sheriff's Office. His brother reported that Grant choked one of his daughters and threw the other against a wall. The girls are ages 13 and 16. The brother attempted to intervene, leading to a fight, the Sheriff's Office said.
