Senate blocks effort to cut wasteful project

info@islandpacket.comMarch 28, 2013

I am writing to point out an example of the absolute craziness that is taking place in Washington with our tax dollars.

I just read about U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte's efforts to kill $380 million for a mobile air defense system on the grounds that the military does not want it and would not use it.

She tried repeatedly to add an amendment to the continuing resolution to fund government operations, but a vote was blocked.

So here we go, spending $380 million on an unnecessary weapons system, but cutting defense spending under the sequester on things that matter. How in the heck are we going to ever get our spending under control when we treat wasting $380 million as okay? Unfortunately, all too often our tax dollars get managed this way in Washington.
