Singer Pat Boone has endorsed Curtis Bostic in Tuesday's Republican runoff in the 1st Congressional District.

In a news release today, Boone, a spokesman for the 60 Plus Association, a senior advocacy group, called Bostic a "fighter for the elderly."

"I'm still singing at concerts," Boone said, "but today I'm singing the praises of Curtis Bostic. As a former U.S. Marine, Curtis Bostic can always be counted on to be faithful to his office. And Curtis Bostic can always be counted on to be faithful to those who place him in office. He will not abandon his duties. He can also always be counted on to protect Social Security and Medicare and he will be a tax cutter, protecting the pocket books of senior citizens, as well as all taxpayers, regardless of age."

"I'm honored to have the support of Pat Boone," said Bostic, a former Charleston County councilman. "It's further evidence that as we enter the homestretch of the campaign, the momentum is behind our campaign and our fiscally conservative agenda."

Bostic faces former Gov. Mark Sanford in Tuesday's runoff; the winner faces Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, a Charleston businesswoman and sister of comedian Stephen Colbert.
