Don't pay foreigh states undeserved 'tribute'

info@islandpacket.comMarch 25, 2013

During Thomas Jefferson's presidency, the Barbary Coast states of Tunis, Algiers and Tripoli demanded tribute to stop raiding American shipping. Jefferson's reply was "Millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute."

How ironic that we now are willing to pay billions for tribute but are cutting back on defense. How far we have fallen.
