Stanek, Arkansas take second game of series from Gamecocks

COLUMBIA -- The fifth-ranked South Carolina baseball team broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fifth inning Saturday against Arkansas, but the 17th-ranked Razorbacks rallied with four runs over the next three innings to take a 4-2 win at Carolina Stadium.

Arkansas' Ryne Stanek pitched a complete game for the win. He held South Carolina (18-5 overall, 2-3 SEC) to three hits and two unearned runs, walking one and striking out seven.

South Carolina starter Nolan Belcher (4-2) went 7 1-3 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits with six strikeouts.

Dominic Ficociello went 3 for 4 with a run, Jacob Mahan and Brian Anderson each had two hits, and Matt Vinson hit a solo home run for the Razorbacks (16-7, 3-2).

Tanner English, Connor Bright and George Iskenderian had the Gamecocks' only hits.

The series finale is set for 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
