Arkansas hammers South Carolina, 15-3

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Arkansas sent 12 batters to the plate in the top of the fourth and scored nine runs on the way to a 15-3 victory over South Carolina on Friday.

Arkansas starting pitcher Barrett Astin allowed three runs and six hits on 5 1-3 innings to earn the win.

South Carolina starter Evan Beal (2-1) went 3 2-3 innings, allowing eight runs and six hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

Arkansas had 13 hits overall, with South Carolina finishing with six.

Six different Gamecocks had one hit apiece.

Arkansas improved to 15-7 overall and 2-2 in the SEC. South Carolina dropped to 18-4, 2-2.

The series continues at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
