American Legion and Beaufort Ospreys grateful for money raised during golf tournament

info@islandpacket.comMarch 22, 2013

The 15th annual Beaufort Ospreys' golf tournament was held March 4 at The Legends of Parris Island course. The format this year was changed to a ProAm, and the participation of more than 20 local area golf professionals added greatly to the excitement and success of the tournament. More than $10,000 was raised in support of the Beaufort Ospreys baseball team.

Beaufort's American Legion posts and the Ospreys appreciate the efforts of all who participated. Space precludes the possibility of mentioning all by name, but we would be remiss if we did not mention the staff of The Legends, whose efforts were particularly noteworthy.

The Beaufort business community has enthusiastically supported past Ospreys' events, and this year was no exception. More than 100 local businesses participated, providing merchandise for prizes and sponsoring holes. The tournament could not have been held without that generous support.

Equally important was the support of Beaufort residents who played in the tournament. This year, 120 golfers played.

I look forward to personally thanking all who participated. Hopefully, I'll be able to do so at an Ospreys' game. In the meantime, though, please accept this written thanks. As a result of your generous support, the tournament was a great success.

I would also urge readers to log on to the American Legion website, www.bftamlegpost9.org, where you can see a complete list of tournament participants and sponsors.
